About Course

Sport and Exercise Behaviour is an overview of basic concepts and principles essential to understanding the psychological and behavioural aspects of sport and exercise. Emphasis is given to the conceptual frameworks and the applied aspects of sport performance enhancement and mental skills, exercise behaviour and motivation, sociological factors, and health and well-being. Applications are made to future practitioners of coaching, teaching, sports medicine, counselling, sport management, and fitness instruction

What Will You Learn?

  • This course is a comprehensive introduction to psychological and sociological factors that relate to sport and exercise involvement and performance. At completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Analyse the influence of psychological factors on involvement and performance in sport, exercise and physical education settings. This will include an extensive exploration of the field of sport and exercise psychology, mental skills that can be examined and training to improve athletic and physical performance.
  • Analyse how participation in sport, exercise and physical education influences the psychological make-up of those individuals involved. Apply sport and exercise psychology skills and knowledge to coaching, teaching, physical therapy/athletic training, and/or exercise/fitness leadership situations
