About Course

Catering management involves the task of overseeing and managing the different processes involved to cater a meal for an event. While there are not usually degree programs solely devoted to catering management, there are many online catering courses and certificate programs available.

 

What Will You Learn?

  • Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  • Identify duties of a caterer
  • Explain the difference between on site and off site catering
  • Understand how to work with clients and meet their needs
  • Participate in an event walk-through and identify the components that are needed for that event
  • Plan a menu for a catered event that meets the needs of the client
  • Explain the production of a catered event including but not limited to assembly, sanitation, holding, serving, transportation, storage, and clean up
  • Identify the different styles of service for catered events
  • Utilize and maintain commonly used catering equipment
  • Understand basic contracts, banquet event orders and other forms used in a catered event and their legal implications
  • Identify and explain the basic service styles and laws regarding beverage service, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
  • Identify the industry resources and their functions for a catered event including but not limited to rentals, venue management, floral design and event production
